Teddy Bear is on the air!
One of the smoothest and longest-tenured of the Big Eight jocks, Ted "The Bear" Richards started at 'CK in 1972 and was there until the end of the Big Eight era in 1984. Richards' first radio gig was in 1965 at WBLR Batesburg-Leesburg in his home state of South Carolina. He was also on WDXY Sumter, S.C., Armed Forces Radio and WAPE Jacksonville, Fla., before going to the Big Eight. While at 'CK, he worked mostly early-evening or late-evening shifts, with a couple of stints in afternoon drive. Post-'CK, Richards jocked at WOMC and WHND Detroit, WRQN Toledo, WTRG Raleigh, N.C., Jones Radio Networks in Denver and WVCO Myrtle Beach, S.C.

"In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes."
Andy Warhol was right!
On May 30, 2013, your curator got his very own Fifteen Minutes of Fame when he was interviewed on-air by CKOC's Ted Yates. It was a promotional appearance for my book, Fifteen Minutes of Fame: History's One-Hit Wonders.
Hear the interview here.
