Dave Diamond struck gold with listeners for more than two decades.

Born Sidney Ivan Jameson, Jr. on August 7, 1936 in Howard, South Dakota, Diamond got his radio start at KOIL Omaha in 1960. He had numerous radio stops after that, most notably at KHJ Los Angeles where he became one of the original Boss Jocks in 1965. Later in the decade Diamond hosted one of the first "underground" radio shows at KBLA and KFWB Los Angeles and later KFRC San Francisco. He called it "The Diamond Mine", a mixture of psychedelic music and poetry sent in by listeners.

In the '70s, Diamond jocked at Los Angeles stations KDAY, KRLA, KIIS. His last stop was KFI, where he spent six years before retiring from on-air work in 1982. He went into teaching, and wrote several books, poems, short stories and plays while also finding time to set up new radio stations and cable TV stations in California and the midwest.

This very accomplished broadcaster, writer and educator died in 2014 of pnemonia. He was 77.
