It's a memorable
Memorial Day at KDWB as Twin Cities legend Mike
Butts rocks the box in morning drive.
The two-time Billboard Air Personality of the Year arrived in
Minneapols-St. Paul in 1975 inbound from KCBQ
San Diego. Before that he was a KIQQ-FM Los
Angeles, and WWWW and WKNR in
the Detroit market. During his two years at KDWB
Butts helped vault the station to #1 among the four CHR statiions
in the Twin Cities.
Butts later jocked at WTIC Hartford, KKAT-KDAB
AM-FM Salt Lake City, KBTS Austin,
Texas and WPRO Providence, Rhode Island. Along
the way he became an ordained minister who married couples live
on the air at a McDonald's drive-thru for a Valentine's Day promo
on WPRO. His efforts to help homeless animals
earned him "Man of the Year" honours from the Humane
Society.
