"AIRCHECK OF THE WEEK

Edition #1365
Week of September 21, 2025

Subject: WMCA JOCK GOODBYES
Station:
WMCA New York
Date:
 September 20, 1970
Time: 41:27 (unscoped)
10:52 (scoped)

The "Good Guys" said farewell as the music era ended at WMCA.

Many a great jock graced the WMCA mic during its decade as a Top 40 station, which saw it go head-to-head on the AM dial with the legendary WABC.

At the end - on the third weekend of September 1970 - the station still had a stellar lineup with Ed Baer (mornings), Johnny Michaels (middays), Jack Spector (afternoons), Frankie Crocker (evenings) and Dean Anthony. All of them (except for Michaels) say goodbye on this aircheck from WMCA's final weekend of music.

WMCA became Dial-Log radio on Monday, September 21, with Spector (who moved to sports) and long-time talk show host Barry Gray the only ones to survive the transition from music to talk.

Enjoy as the WMCA jocks say goodbye (UNSCOPED) here.
