Too little, too late.
Such was the fate of AM Stereo, a technology
some believed would be the savior of AM radio in the '80s. However by the time
it arrived, much of the radio audience had migrated to FM and they weren't
coming back. Not helping matters was lack of a standardized system, which confused
listeners (this aircheck of
Terry Stevens uses the Khan
system). Interest in AM Stereo waned in the '90s and few stations were using it
by the 2000s.
