It's opening day, the Red Sox are getting ready to play, and Fenway in the Morning
is starting your day at WMEX.Fenway was actually Ed Hider, one of a string of jocks to use the Fenway moniker at WMEX, following a common practice of the time of using "house names" for deejays. Other Fenways at WMEX included Jack Gale, Larry Justice, J.J.Jeffrey and Dan Patrick.
Hider was also known as Ed Mitchell in Boston at WCOP before moving to New York. He hosted "Here's Hider" on WINS before moving to the west coast at KYA and KNBR San Francisco and KDAY and KFI in Los Angeles. He was also at KNBR Binghamton, New York.
Hider became a comedy writer for Dean Martin, Donny & Marie and other stars. The man known as "Mr. Comedy" created "The Electric Weenie", one of radio's first comedy services. He also wrote "Take My Turntable - Please", a 125-page book of comedy bits.
