He was known as the "musicologist" of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Boasting a collection 200,000 records, tapes and CDs and his own home studio, Bud Buschardt lived for music and the media. He hosted radio shows on KVIL AM & FM and WFAA-AM, including "57 Nostalgia Place" (heard below). He also produced Sump'n Else, a bandstand-type show that ran from 1965 to 1968 on WFAA-TV.
Buschardt was a busy guy. For 46 years, he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Media Arts at the University of North Texas. From 1989 to 2007 he worked for ABC Radio Networks, hosting Night Train and the Saturday Oldies Show, and serving as program director of the Stardust (later Timeless) format. He was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2011, later serving as its president.
Buschardt died in 2001 after a fall at his home, shortly after retiring from teaching. He was 79.
