Talent:
Wit and a dry sense of humour marked Dick Clayton's long radio career.
The wise-cracking New York native got his start at WIL St. Louis, where he jocked from 1957 to 1964. From there he moved to his hometown at WINS before trekking to Philadelphia.
Clayton spent the bulk of his career in the City of Brotherly Love. He was at WIP during its prime from 1967 to 1974. He moved to WCAU as a talk show host, then to WIBG. He returned to WIP where he did Sunday morning broadcasts until 1982. Then it was on to another big Philly station, WPEN.
Clayton and his wife raised English setters and show horses. A lover of golf and woodwork, Clayton suffered from scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. He died July 28, 1998 at the age of 70.
