A great station with a bad signal. That's how one commenter on REELRADIO described KBLA, a 1,000-watt Burbank station that went head-to-head with 5,000-watt KHJ for a short time in the mid-'60s. Jocks included Harry Newman, Roger Christian, Harvey Miller, Dave Diamond, Bob Dayton, Vic Gee and the subject of this aircheck, William F. Williams. Emperor Hudson and Hal Pickens replaced Newman and Williams by the end of 1966. The format ended in June 1967 and KBLA became country-music-formatted
KBBQ. It switched back to rock as KROQ (The "Roq" of Los Angeles) in 1972.Enjoy William F. Williams on KBLA (UNSCOPED) here.
