Boss Radio was long gone, but the Real Don Steele was still going strong.
KHJ launched the ground-breaking Boss Radio format in 1965 with a killer lineup that included Steele in afternoon drive. He was still in that time slot when he moved to KIQQ in 1973. A string of call letters followed: KTNQ, KODJ/KCBS, KRLA before Steele arrived at KRTH (K-Earth) in 1992 for what turned out to be his last radio stop. Steele died in 1997 of lung cancer at the age of 61.
On this aircheck, we hear Steele on a former KHJ competitor, KRLA, which in the '80s was also home to Humble Harv, Johnny Hayes and Huggy Boy. Enjoy!
