"AIRCHECK OF THE WEEK

Edition #1329
Week of January 5, 2024

Talent: WEE WILLIE EDMONDS
Station: WMGM New York
Date: January 11, 1962
Time: 1:19:46 (UNSCOPED)
28:36 (SCOPED)

Wee Willie Edmonds is a busy guy in this aircheck from the dying days of WMGM's Top 40 format.

He takes dedications, talks after every record and even does the news on the long-defunct Loews theatres station in New York.

One odd aspect this aircheck occurs near the end when Edmonds throws on a Tony Bennett album that even includes the silence between the cuts. Maybe he was working on his resume!

WMGM switched to an easy-listening format on February 28, 1962 as they returned to their old WHN calls, leaving WABC and WINS to fight for Top 40 ears in New York.
