The memories flowed as the KRLA jocks returned to celebrate the station's 30th anniversary.
One of the personalities who came back was "The Wild I-tralian", Dick Biondi, who hadn't been heard in southern California since the mid-'60s. Best known for his many years in Chicago radio at various stations including the legendary WLS, Biondi was named to the Radio Hall of Fame in 1998. Among his many credits: he is considered to be the first U.S. jock to play a Beatle record on the air, in early 1963 at WLS.
Dick Biondi died June 26, 2023 at the age of 90.
